When The Country Went To War, These Starlets Did Their Part To Support The Effort!

There were so many ways that every government involved in World War II asked every citizen to help with the war effort. While you wouldn’t expect the stars in Hollywood to be planting gardens, they did help the war effort through fund-raising and promotion. Check out these starlets doing their part to help!

The typewriter that Maureen O’hara used in revising scripts was one of many being collected on this day in 1942 from RKO pictures. The machines which typed out “many of the most memorable scenes in hit motion pictures, are now going to war.” You can see her here with heaps of typewriters (more than 70 by the end of that day!), all ready to be reused by the military.
