8 TV Homes We Wanted to Live In as Kids!

Growing up, our favorite TV shows had a huge impact on us. Here are some of the TV homes we most wanted to visit when we were kids.

This was a home you wanted to be invited over to! Every room was welcoming, but none were ever overwhelming or bare. Leave It To Beaver was one of those shows we always watched when it was on. June’s spotless housekeeping and sensible parenting made her an appealing figure, like a friend’s mom who you just knew would give you a cookie if you asked. Their home was filled with little touches here and there which it made even more inviting. Elements of Western decor and furniture were all around the home in the plaid curtains, kerosene style lamps, and country-inspired furniture. Yet, it never feels over-done like many homes of the era. One thing we’ve always wondered though: why do the boys have to share a bedroom when the house seems like it should have 3 or more bedrooms? That always seemed strange to us.

We really can’t decide if their first apartment or their second apartment was the best. Both were filled with brass lamps, mismatched furniture, and Hawaiian lei’s strewn about. The ultimate in kitcsh, their bachelorette pads seemed like such fun places to be. The casual decorating style was full of youthful bright colors, yet was never saccharine. Watch this clip from season 3 of Laverne & Shirley which shows their first apartment, this time covered in plants. Such a great show!
