If you are anything like us, you have been watching the new series Wednesday religiously. It’s a great show and we have been loving every minute of it. Our favorite character is probably Thing and we cannot quite put our finger on why. There’s just something about them that we love.

This one will either make you show your age or force you to realize that you do not know as much about the Addams Family lore as you thought you did. As it turns out, Thing has been a part of the family since before we were even born. The good folks at Bopping are here to explain the full origin story to all interested parties.

Considering the popularity of the current iteration, there are sure to be many. If you are old enough to remember the character’s true origins (we are not here to judge), Thing dates all the way back to the 1960s. “When viewers see Thing, they experience a mix of confusion and curiosity about how he became a part of the Addams family,” Bopping shares in its video.

It makes sense that people would be puzzled but that’s okay. That’s where this explanation video comes into play. We learned a lot from it, if we are being honest. Bopping told us the whole origin story and even explained all of the changes that have taken place with the character as the decades have passed. Thing has certainly evolved a lot but the essence remains the same.

They even provide a breakdown of all the actors that have played Thing over the years, as well as a further explanation of how Thing became such an enduring part of the family.
