When it comes to diamond engagement rings, I think we all realize that it is important to care for them and to make sure that they don’t get lost.

That being said, they are one of the easier things to lose and it only takes a moment of indiscretion for them to be gone forever.

One of the places where diamond rings disappear more than any other is in the bathroom. We tend to take them off in order to wash our hands and do other necessary things, and it isn’t long before they are gone.

That is what happened to a Florida couple 21 years ago and they had always had suspicions about where the ring went. It just disappeared quickly, and it was thought that it may have gotten flushed down the toilet.

I’ll be the first one to admit that the toilet is one of the more difficult places to retrieve a diamond ring from. If it isn’t in the bowl, what are you going to do to find it?

According to WFLA, this Florida couple decided that they would take a close look, even going so far as to pump the septic tank in order to look for it. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found.

It was 21 years before the toilet was finally replaced in the home and when it was replaced, they found the missing ring. It seems as if it’d gotten wedged in an area of the toilet, and after 21 years, it was finally able to go back on the woman’s finger once again.

When the owner of the ring learned that the diamond was found again, she said she had “kind of an ugly cry.” According to WFLA, she said: “‘Oh my gosh, this is my ring. This is my ring.’ I’m wiping my eyes and mascara is going everywhere.”

There’s a lesson in here for all of us, but I’m not exactly sure what it is.
