Johnny Cash Mural On Arkansas Water Tower Goes Viral For Unfortunately Placed Leak

A bullet happened to pierce the water tower and cause a leak, making it look like the late country star is relieving himself.

Johnny Cash was a musical icon. He passed away in 2003, but today – almost twenty years after his death – he’s back in the news. Or, at least a mural dedicated to the late singer is making headlines after someone vandalized it.

According to a report by THV11, a water tower based in Arkansas – which has Cash’s silhouette on it – has been shot.

This act of vandalism is bad enough, however, the location of the fired shot is rather…delicate. The bullet happened to pierce the water tower and cause a leak, making it look like the late country star is relieving himself.

The water tower is located in the small town of Kingsland, Arkansas, according to Fox 16.

Kingsland happens to be the birthplace of Johnny Cash. Besides this claim to fame, the town also put up a mural of him on their water tower, complete with the singer’s famous red guitar. The mural was hard to miss before, but after the strategically-placed shot, it has become even harder to miss. The silhouette with the bullet hole has been profusely leaking water for days.

At present, the identity of whoever vandalized the water tower is still a mystery. But it isn’t hard to guess why they went ahead and did it. The results are quite funny-looking.

This isn’t even the first time that someone has tried to shoot at the water tower. Luke Neal, the Kingsland mayor, shared with the news outlet that there was a similar incident back in 1993 – well before the Johnny Cash mural was painted on it.

While the peeing mural of Johnny Cash might be hilarious to some, the resulting damage is no laughing matter. Because of the vandalization, the town of Kingsland is currently losing 30,000 gallons of water per day! That’s about $200 worth each day, which for a small town quickly adds up to one hefty bill.

The costs will continue to climb as the tower will have to be drained in order to fix the leak. Whoever did this might be laughing now, but the last time someone tried shooting the water tower they got charged with a felony as well as a $10,000 fine to help cover the costs of the damage they did.
