The Ike and Tina Turner Revue was the band that topped charts in the 1960s and 70s. They performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1970 and among the songs they sang was the cover “Proud Mary”. Their rendition of the Credence Clearwater Revival song sometimes started out slow and amped to become a frenzied and passionate song that Tina belted out with singular talent. Other times, they performed it high energy from the first beat. With the Ikettes behind her, Tina not only sang but danced her heart out on stage. This kind of enthusiasm in their live shows is what earned them recognition and awards around the globe.
