Talk About Talent! If You’ve Never Seen The Collins Kids Perform, You’re In For A Treat

Lorrie’s harmonic voice combined with Larry’s energetic double-neck guitar playing form quite the one-two punch!

When it comes to music, we always respect and revere a talented musician or a singer with a beautiful voice; even more so if the musicians are kids! Such is the case with The Collins Kids, a rockabilly brother-sister duo from the ’50s. If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing The Collins Kids perform, you’re in for quite the treat. The group consists of Lorrie, the older sister and lead singer, and Larry, the younger brother and guitar player.

Known for their hit songs “Hop, Skip and Jump”, “Beetle Bug Bop,” and “Hoy Hoy,” the Collins Kids got their start on the 1954 radio program Town Hall Party. They eventually became regulars on the TV-version of the show, Tex Ritter’s Ranch Party. Lorrie was also teen heartthrob Ricky Nelson’s first public girlfriend! In the performance below, you’ll see why we were so blown away by this dynamic duo. Lorrie’s harmonic voice combined with Larry’s energetic double-neck guitar playing (seriously, he learned to play by the time he was 10) form quite the one-two punch! Watch as they perform the songs “Shortnin’ Bread,” and “Hot Rod.”
