A Look Inside Public Latrines Introduces You To Ancient Roman Life

As you can imagine, there were plenty of issues that came with sharing a bathroom with so many people.

If there is one thing we all have in common, it’s the fact that we have to use the bathroom. It isn’t something that we often discuss openly, but it’s something that we all share.

This is not only true of us today in the modern world, it is also true of those who lived thousands of years ago.

In fact, learning a little more about the way they spent their time in the bathroom is quite telling.

In order to find out more, you can look at the interesting video by Garrett Ryan as he talks about how Romans used the bathroom in ancient times. He shows you a number of different options that were available, from bathrooms in private homes to those open to the public.

Perhaps one of the more interesting things about the video is that it shows how public latrines were a part of Roman life. It may seem interesting, but as you can imagine, there were also issues that came with sharing a bathroom with so many people.

First of all, these restrooms were often for both genders, so there was a lack of privacy as far as that was concerned. They also were lacking in ventilation, which cause problems from the horrible smell to an occasional methane explosion that sent fires through all of the toilets.

Of course, it also gave the Romans an opportunity to sit and reflect on the day as they took care of business.
