See The Original Newsreel From the Days After Amelia Earhart Disappeared

This tragic event won’t be forgotten anytime soon, but it’s old newsreels like this one that keep history alive!

It’s so rare that we get to see original newsreel footage of historic events in the 20th century these days. Long gone are the days of newsreels at the movies. But, we found a real gem for you. This clip from 1937 highlights the days immediately after Amelia Earhart’s plane tragically went missing. The aviator (or aviatrix) who set so many records in her time had disappeared after attempting the now-infamous world-flight departing from Miami and continuing to circle the globe. The narrator introduces us to her husband and also her navigator. We also get to see some of the planes sent to search for her. I’m not sure I’d ever seen 1930s footage of aircraft carriers before! This tragic event won’t be forgotten anytime soon, but it’s old newsreels like this one that bring history to life! Have a look at the video below.
