Watch A 1940’s Coca-Cola 6-Pack Get Restored Using Coke

The vintage Coca-Cola six-pack container was likely from World War II, and it needed a lot of care to get back to its former glory.

The Odd Tinkering YouTube channel is here with a new hack that is sure to appeal to all of the Coca-Cola lovers out there, as well as those who can simply appreciate a top notch restoration project.

They came across a vintage Coca-Cola six-pack container that was first issued during World War II. Of course, it was loaded with rust.

The container is placed into a metal tub and this is where the real magic comes into play. From there, a two-liter of Coke is procured and added to the tub.

A small rubber duck was placed on top of the soda bath, as our fearless leader sits back and lets the bubbles do their work. We could not believe our eyes when the container was removed.

Once the container was removed, the vast majority of the rust was gone. In order to remove the little bit of rust that was left, he sanded the container down.

“I decided to not use laser for rust removal this time, simply because I didn’t want to miss opportunity to restore Coca-Cola item with Coke. I used sugar free version to avoind averything getting sticky. After 5 days in Coca-Cola lot of rust had fallen off and the rest came off with metal brush easily., without any treatment it will take ages to get rust off with only a wire brush,” he said in the video’s description.

Once it was time to finish up, he added some very interesting flourishes that are sure to draw your eye.

“The carrier was also missing the handle. I searched some pictures of what the handles had looked like. I took a piece of beech wood and turned it into the correct shape on a lathe,” he shared.
