In 1948, Priscilla Wilcox married the love of her life, Bill. When they wed, Priscilla wore a 97-year-old dress that had been her great-great-grandmother’s. Now, the dress is 166 years old, and the very special people at the home where Priscilla now lives recently put it on display for her as a celebration of Priscilla and Bill’s love.

Priscilla and Bill no longer live together because Priscilla needs extra care. She stays at Bridges by Epoch at Westwood, a community for those with Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss. Despite living in different homes, Priscilla and Bill’s love has endured. They’re coming up on their 69th anniversary.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, we’ve been thinking a lot about love and its amazing ability to withstand the test of time. Priscilla Wilcox, a resident at our community, married her husband Bill in 1948. Their wedding made the newspapers because Priscilla married Bill in her great-grandmother’s dress, which was 97 years old at the time.

Today, Priscilla resides at Bridges by EPOCH at Westwood and Bill lives at a nearby assisted living community. Rain, snow or sleet, Bill visits his beautiful bride nearly every day for lunch at our community.

As they celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary this year, we wanted to honor Priscilla and Bill’s amazing love story through a special display at our community, complete with wedding photos and a mannequin modeling Priscilla’s gorgeous 166-year-old gown.
