For those who are innately curious, snooping around abandoned buildings can yield a variety of surprises. Urban exploration is a popular trend, but it’s not for the faint of heart. Many abandoned buildings are literally crumbling or can be trashed beyond recognition. YouTube urban explorer, TikiTrex, she has stumbled upon a house with almost no vandalism and with many of its old features and decor intact. This time travel home still has its stained glass entryway, its chandeliers, and colorful bathrooms. If it weren’t for the crumbling walls, some areas of the house look almost as if someone could be still living there! The way it’s decorated with a variety of colors and styles has a distinctly early 1950s look to it, even though it seems very likely the house was lived in until the 1970s at least. It makes you wonder about who the people who lived here were! There are so many original details left in this house. As the camera woman says, “you just don’t see that anymore.”
This kitchen! Scalloped details, chandelier, pink cabinets on white background, and lace curtains still hanging in the window. What’s not to love?
Check out that wallpaper!
That console TV doesn’t look mid-century, but it’s certainly a thing you hardly ever see anymore. Ah, back when the TV was the furniture, not on the furniture.
What is so astounding is that the original color combinations are all still there. Perhaps that’s why it feels so special. We haven’t used these colors and patterns together for years. It feels so familiar! This page from a 1949 furniture catalog shows those greens and pinks together.
