This idol was on the smaller side. And, maybe he didn’t have the stud-like appeal that Tab Hunter did. That didn’t stop thousands of girls from dreaming about him and screaming at the top of their lungs when he appeared on stage with The Monkees. His fun antics and numerous TV appearances made him a hit with many teenagers. Jones had been studying to become a jockey when he decided to try out for a role in the musical Oliver. He was nominated for a Tony award after that, and was quickly signed to both film and a recording contracts. His time with The Monkees (1966-71) left him a well-known singer as he performed the vocals on “Daydream Believer” among many other great songs on The Monkees TV show. Have a listen below.
