It’s always interesting to learn something about our history. Sometimes, it’s something that may have happened thousands of years ago and at other times, it was something that our parents or grandparents did.

That is where Ryan Socash comes in. He runs the YouTube channel, Its History, and he recently talked about the way that we used to communicate through cross-continental telegraph.

Telegraph systems had been in place for quite some time and they weren’t always the same type of technology. For example, in China, they used to communicate over great distances with smoke signals.

In Britain and the United States, the electronic version of the telegraph really opened the way for people to communicate over greater distances.

That especially gained a foothold when Samuel Morse took part in creating a type of code that would make it easier for that communication to take place.

For quite some time, the telegraph gained a foothold in the technology of the day. It originally was popular in Britain but eventually, it gained popularity in the United States.

Eventually, the telegraph machine went the way of the dodo. New technologies were emerging and the telephone was eventually developed, putting a final end to that part of history.
