Attention ’80s Kids! Rare Interview with the Elusive Lisa Frank & a Peek at Her Archives
Her iconic designs defined cool for a generation of girls!
For those who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s, the familiar puppies, rainbows, and unicorns from Lisa Frank that appeared on folders and pencils were the must-have accessories for school days. The bright colors and shiny subjects were the very definition of sugary sweet – which is probably why her designs captivated young girls (and still do!).
The artist herself has run her business for decades, always hidden from public eye. Frank let her designs do all the talking during that time, but recently granted Great Big Story an interview where she shows her early designs from the vault!
If you love Lisa Frank then the video below is simply a must-see! You won’t see her face since she is a fairly private person, but her interview gives us a snapshot of how she comes up with her creations. And, if you enjoyed this then click here for the story behind the equally iconic Big Eye paintings!
