A “Friends” Reunion Special Is Officially In The Works

Looks like that reunion we all witnessed on Instagram the other day wasn’t just a coincidence. Despite years of different cast members shutting down the idea of a movie or T.V. special, it looks like we are actually going to get a Friends reunion of sorts.

Hardcore Friends fans know that Netflix will no longer have the streaming rights to the show in 2020 and that it will be moving to HBO Max. The new streaming service will also play cult favorites like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. However, it looks like the folks over at Warner Brothers and HBO have a trick up their sleeve.

According to Deadline, the reunion will not be a new episode of the series, but “a special that will bring the cast back together in an unspecified way”. All that is known so far is that the show will be unscripted.

Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel on the series, has been hinting at a possible reunion over for the past few weeks since joining Instagram. She posted a photo with her Friends co-stars eating dinner and the internet went wild!

While on Ellen, she also hinted that something was happening: “We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is,” she said. “So we’re just trying. We’re working on something.”

HBO Max is expected to launch in May 2020 and will cost $15/month.
