Eight Classic Easter Dishes We Love!

While some things have changed, these nine Easter foods have remained our favorites through the years. We hope you’ll get to have some of these seasonal Easter treats this year!

7) Pane di Pasqua

This sweet Italian bread has a unique form with the dyed Easter egg set in the middle. Pane di pasqua is part of a very long tradition, as bread or cake figures into most holidays in Italy. The bread is braided into a round shape or braided into a loaf, and dyed eggs are often placed into it. The raw eggs cook as the bread bakes and you are left with a very pleasing display. Here is a variation for the braided bread with no egg, but with almonds on top.

8) Pineapple Glazed Ham

The tradition of eating ham at Easter can be traced to Northern Europe and the U.S. Pigs were considered lucky in pre-Christian times throughout parts of Europe. Pigs were an important livestock in the American settlements too. The timing also worked out well for traditional Easter celebrations because hams were set to age in winter and were ready in early spring. This is one of the most well-loved main dishes for Easter. You can find the old-fashioned pineapple ham recipe here.
