8 Things We Loved From The British Invasion Of The 1960s!

The British Invasion saw musicians, movies and fashion from Britain come across the pond and grab the attention of millions of Americans during the swinging 60s.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones prove the British Invasion continues into the 2010s. Mick Jagger and his band keep rockin’ the world with tour after tour even though they’re all in their 70s. It just goes to prove that true musicians are never too old to rock out a concert stage. A hit song from Maroon 5 released in 2011 touts “moves like Jagger” as an homage to this rock band’s persona.

“My Fair Lady”

“My Fair Lady” turned “Pygmalion” into a musical about flower girls, proper society, men who drink alcohol in large groups just for fun and lavish balls. The entire flower girl mentality of the 1960s started with Eliza Doolittle, a working-class Londoner who trains to become a woman of upper-class society by taking speech lessons from a phonetics professor. “My Fair Lady” became one of the longest-running shows on Broadway through the 1960s.
