A 6 Liter Bottle Of Cabernet Sauvignon Sold For $1 Million

The 6 L bottle sold at auction may be the only one in existence.

Earlier this month, a charity auction in New Orleans managed to break a record. They did so, according to Sonoma Magazine, by selling a bottle of wine for $1 million.

Don Steiner just couldn’t resist placing a bid on the 6 L bottle of the 2019 Glass Slipper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Admittedly, it is a lot of wine but $1 million is a lot of money.

Considering the fact that a 750 mL bottle sells for $185 when it is full of the same wine, they aren’t really sure why he paid $1 million for a 6 L bottle. What is known is that there were only 75 cases of the larger bottle produced.

The magazine went on to report that the 6 L bottle sold at auction may be the only one in existence. As far as Steiner is concerned, nobody really knows much about him, including what he does for a living.

Perhaps he just wanted to be charitable, as the auction raised funds for American celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse’s foundation.

The winemaker also had something to say, considering it an honor to set the world record for the most expensive single bottle of wine sold.

He was also happy to have raised $1 million for a cause that is important to him. He finished things up by saying: “I’m still pinching myself.”
