Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine

One of the most talked about lost treasures in American history, the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine is surrounded by myth and excitement. According to the legend, the gold mine is hidden in the southwest. The mine was named after the German immigrant Jacob Waltz, who discovered the mine around 1850. When he died in 1891, the secret location of the mine died with him. Many miners went searching for the location, and hundreds of people still go to the Lost Dutchman’s State Park to seek out the hidden treasure.
