We all remember this famous episode where Fonzie jumps over a shark on water skis. This Happy Days scene in years since has become an analogy for the decrease in quality of a given item. It is theorized that Happy Days suffered a decline in quality in a plot starting at this episode. Now, when we talk about “jumping the shark,” we mean usually mean something that is past its prime that should be retired.
