It’s Incredible What You Can Make – Free-Blown Glassmaking

We showed you mold-blown, now check out free-blown glassmaking…these pieces are stunning!

If you haven’t noticed, we’re on quite the glassware kick. Hopefully you find it as fascinating as we do…there’s just something about it that really captivates us. We took a closer already at mold-blown glass, where molten glass is placed in a mold and then blown so that it expands and takes the form of said mold, and now we’re looking at free-blown glass, brought to us by the Getty Museum.

If we had to choose between the two, we’d say we’re more intrigued with free-blown glass. The fact that every single piece is totally unique is really special and it adds to the character and history of the piece. What do you think? Any preference between mold-blown or free-blown glass, from a purely aesthetic point of view?
