1) Frankie Avalon
Avalon started playing for TV audiences at the tender age of just 11-years-old. This versatile star went on the sing some top hits and to act in many beach-themed comedy teen movies with Annette Funicello, among other stars. Teen beach films like Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingofirmly cemented the genre in popular culture and made Avalon’s face even more recognizable. From the serious actors and musicians to the cereal-box pretty-boys, these teen heart throbs helped to shape the sights and sounds of the 1950s and 60s. These hunks made many a girl swoon in a kind of daze, wondering what it would be like if she could maybe just meet one of these stars. Their films and records made them national names and we still love these classics.
