Since the beginning of time, man has dreamed of flight. And in the early 1960s, a group of students claimed that dream for themselves with a flying bicycle. Watch as these Southampton University students build their very own flying machine, which they called the ‘Sumpac’.It all started with a challenge to build a plane that could fly under manpower. If the students were able to fly the plane for one mile, they would win five thousand pounds. Incredibly, despite the fact that the Sumpac had a wingspan of 80 feet and weighed about 100 pounds, the machine worked!
