To older generations the name Connie Francis immediately conjures up images of beach movies with kicky soundtracks to match and her unforgettable smile. Her hit songs of the ’50s were “Who’s Sorry Now?” and “Stupid Cupid” as well as “Lipstick on Your Collar”. But, perhaps the song she was most well known for most of her career was her signature tune, “Where the Boys Are” which featured in the 1960 film of the same name. The song drove audiences wild and showcased her lilting vocal style to perfection. While Francis went on to record new songs for the next 3 decades in many languages, she was especially known for this song for years. That is, until short-form social media changed everything.

In 2025 a B-side from Francis from 1962 resurfaced as a top trending song. The A-side was “I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter”, but it was the other side of the disc that made waves just before Francis passed away.

The song was included on the 1962 album Connie Francis Sings “Second Hand Love”. Thanks to the trending nature of TikTok and Instagram “Pretty Little Baby” became the most well-known song for young people just now finding out about Connie Francis’ music. The cute and catchy song has now been used in millions of clips on social media for everything from funny cat videos to toddlers just learning how to walk.

In a funny twist Francis didn’t even remember the song when someone brought up the trending audio! Francis told People magazine in May 2025 that she had forgotten all about now-trending song! She said, “I had to listen to it to remember.” She went on to say, “To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome. It is an amazing feeling.”

The popularity of “Pretty Little Baby” spurred an interest in TikTok for Francis, who opened her own account in early June. Sadly, she passed away on July 16th, 2025, at the age of 87 after she was hospitalized due to complications from pneumonia.

Really we shouldn’t be surprised that a Connie Francis song has gone viral across social media. After all, she was one of the first pop stars to ever sing in multiple languages which helped her to become a global sensation in the 1960s – with enduring success in the UK and Germany as well as the US.
