When we think of the sweet voices of the ’60s Dionne Warwick is among one of the loveliest. Some of the hits she sang during the decade were written by the brilliant songwriter and musician, Burt Bacharach. It was a stunning combination of his songs and her pitch perfect voice that made these songs special.

“Walk on By” was one of these classics and it would be covered many times in the decades that followed. The song first came out in 1964, to chart-topping success. The lyrics for this gem were written by Hal David who, like Bacharach, authored many of the hits from the ’60s. After having attended the Hartt College of Music, Warwick met Bacharach when she was hired to record demos that he and David had written. From there the three of them enjoyed a successful relationship that produced a number of hits for the trio.
