4) Captain Hook

With his easily-hurt pride, his misfit crew of lively buffoons, and his over-the-top plots to capture Peter Pan, Captain Hook is one of the best bad guys of all time! His hook hand and ever-present vanity make his pretension an often-humorous affair. Sometimes it seemed like it wasn’t a fair fight: adults picking on kids. But, Peter proves to be match for Hook time and again! And, Hook’s pirates weren’t that much help, either.

3) The Grinch

One of the most classic villains of any children’s book or film, the Grinch is one of the very few who actually sees the light. His puny plots and schemes build until he is compelled to steal Christmas. But, even he knows he can’t really do that. Then, we get to watch as he makes a huge transformation. He’s just one of the best bad guys and we especially love his dog, Max. The Grinch is one of the best books and movies and we have fond memories of them both.

2) Madame Medusa

Who has crocodiles as pets?! Madame Medusa from The Rescuers has a truly evil mind. When she tries to steal the Devil’s Eye diamond, she is eventually foiled, but not without plenty of shouting, gunshots, reckless driving, and a host of other shenanigans. She gets her due in the end though, from her fed-up pets who try to eat her! It is pretty neat that she gets to run a pawn shop, though.

1) Wicked Witch of The West

Hands down the best villain of all time, the Wicked Witch of the West was the character that every person in the family did impressions of and that we loved to hate the most. From her long nose to green pallor to her magnificent flying monkeys, she’s grotesque but you also kind of wanted to live an hour in her castle! Not to mention that this was pretty much our absolute favorite film growing up!

We loved to despise these TV and movie villains almost as much as we loved knowing that, in the end, justice would prevail and these crooks, gangsters, and supernatural bad guys would get their comeuppance. We only liked watching the bad guys because we loved the heroes so very much! And, we can’t imagine growing up without these amazing stories. Did we miss one of your favorite villains?
