At the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Chicago, the owners are always looking for ways to enhance the decor. The swanky interiors, in white and teal, recall something between a bowling league and a tropical cabana. And, they’ve just added something that also floats the line between blue collar and blue blooded: an entire wall of singing Big Mouth Billy Bass fish mounted on individual plaques.

According to co-owner, Ashley Albert, there are 75 of these serenading guys all set to move with the same songs. However, they don’t all move at once. They are specially-programmed and the coordination of them had to be done using custom software and custom hardware. The installation lines the stairs to the upper deck, which is open seasonally.

The owners wanted to give customers an interesting focal point on their journey to the deck and little details like this is part of what the club is known for. Adam Lassy of Studio Quasi Design Group was the one in charge of figuring out how to make the fish sing together since this type of thing exists no where else in the world.

Shuffleboard has been steadily making a comeback over the past 10 years and now is something of a hip and trendy sport, which explains how shuffleboards bars are not only becoming popular, but they sometimes show off artsy or kitschy installations. It seems like if you wait long enough, everything comes around again, and this includes shuffleboard.
