5) Rock’em Sock’em Robots

A frantic power play ensued each time you got into the ring with these two, each kid in a mad dash to get the other guy’s head to pop up. A novel toy that used joysticks well before home video games were available, this leader in the toy industry was a big hit. Get it?

4) Wham-o Superball

The toy that no one could stop playing with, this crazy fun bouncy ball sparked millions of copies to be made. Superball and its knock-offs became the toy that could fit in a gumball machine, making it another one we simply could not imagine growing up without despite the fact that they often got away from you!

3) Twister

This one raised quite a few eyebrows back when it first came out! The game was dubbed “sexy” for the contortionist-like postures one had to get into to play it. But, it caught on despite the backlash because there simply isn’t anything like it, even today. As if they had bottled some magic formula that was part Hokey Pokey and part Bingo, this physical game is still a pleaser at parties (if you can get your body to cooperate, that is).
