Petula Clark’s voice became one of the most recognizable of the 1960s and is reminder today of how wonderful music was back then. Her first international hit, “Downtown,” became an instant classic in 1964 and is now a song that takes us all right back. “I Know a Place” was the follow-up single to “Downtown” and charted very well in the U.S. in 1965, remaining on the Billboard top ten for around 3 months. The song would later be covered by some of the greatest entertainers of the era: Sammy Davis, Jr. Sarah Vaughn, and Ricky Nelson. The song is also featured in several episodes of Here’s Lucy starring Lucille Ball.
