Our Favorite Coca-Cola Ad From the ’70s Got a Makeover, and It Looks Fantastic!
Forty-five years after its orignal release, Coca-Cola’s 1971 “Hilltop” ad has been color-corrected and remastered from its original 35mm film
One of the world’s most iconic ads has received a fabulous facelift. Forty-five years after its orignal release, Coca-Cola’s 1971 “Hilltop” ad has been color-corrected and remastered from its original 35mm film to a new 4K television version. This memorable campaign began when Coca-Cola and its advertising agency McCann-Erickson shifted their focus from the “Things Go Better With Coke” campaign to the new slogan, “It’s the Real Thing.” A chance occurrence led to an incredible string of events, and the beloved song “I’d Like to Buy The World a Coke” was created, bringing the campaign to life. The rest is sweet history. While the remastered version of the commercial is housed in the Library of Congress, you can experience the revamped version here.
