The Old-fashioned Marionette Show That’s Still Going Strong

In some places it’s a lost art but not at this theater!

Children love puppets perhaps because they’re not sure if the wiggling creatures are real or not. But, there’s something about a good puppet show that can captivate people of any age. If you remember going to puppet shows as a child then you might just want to see inside the longest-running puppet theater in the country.

The Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles has been going strong since 1963 and today is still one of the best places to see a marionette show in the U.S. This old art form is alive and well at this theater where the puppeteers dance right alongside the puppets in a masterful performance that ignites the imagination. While Baker has now passed on, his puppets have been featured not just on the stage, but also on film and TV as in Bewitched, The Magical World of Disney, and Land of the Giants.

Hear the stories of Bob Baker and one of his protégé in the charming video below.
