Of All The Hit Songs By The Andrews Sisters, This One Just Might Be My Favorite!

In 1942, the musical Private Buckaroo opened with quite the accompanying soundtrack. One hit in particular, “Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree,” stood out above the rest. Based on the 19th-century English folk song “Long, Long Ago,” the song was updated for the 1939 Broadway musical Yokel Boy. The Glen Miller Orchestra also recorded a version of the song in 1942, but our favorite version comes straight from the film. In the following clip, one of our personal favorite groups, The Andrews Sisters, perform this charming song (with an appearance from Shemp Howard of The Three Stooges).
