It is the only genuine footage that survived of the Titanic before it set sail.

When you think of the Titanic, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? If you are like most people, you think about the ship striking an iceberg and sinking, or perhaps, the fact that it was supposed to be unsinkable. In reality, there is much more to it.

A rare video has surfaced that shows the Titanic prior to its final voyage. IrishCentral says that it is the only genuine footage that survived of the Titanic before it set sail.

At the beginning of the clip, it shows the ship after it was constructed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Titanic then left for Southhampton, England, and eventually, to New York City.

The rest of the story is history because the Titanic struck an iceberg and never made it to its final destination.

The captain of the Titanic, Edward Smith, is also featured in the video. It also shows footage in New York when the survivors were arriving on another ship, the Carpathia.
