Gifu Media Cosmos Library, Japan

The concept of this very modern 2016 library was designed by Toyo Itoand there’s nothing else like it in the world! The ceiling is made from undulating wooden tiles and the massive polyester floating “shades” designate different areas of the library.

Trinity College, Dublin

This stunning hall was completed in 1732 and remains one of the most glorious libraries in the world. It is also home the world-famous Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript from the 9th century. The massive book nooks are so tall that ladders are needed to reach the top books. Talk about a world-class library!

Rijksmuseum Library, Amsterdam

As one of the world’s premiere art history libraries, the Rijksmusuem Library is certainly fit for purpose with its graceful railings and delicately-painted arches. The library supports the work and catalog of the museum itself.
