5 Unsolved Mysteries From The Wild West

Amongst the warfare, treasure hunting, and gunslingers, the West was a pretty brutal place. It’s no wonder there are a few unsolved mysteries about this fascinating time in American history.

Thunderbirds

Many newspapers in the old West reported sightings of giant pterodactyl-like birds in Arizona and California in the 1800s. One treasure hunter even claimed to have found remains of one such bird with quills as big as human fingers and feathers up to 18 inches long. Aside from the newspapers, however, no evidence has been found that such creatures existed.
