It was a normal trip to the beach in Burry Port, Wales, for Kelly Gravell and her family, until they noticed something strange had washed ashore. Covered in barnacles and weathered from the water, Gravell assumed it was an old buoy. So she was shocked to learn that it wasn’t a buoy, but instead a U.S. military mine bomb that dates back to WWII!

Officials say it’s common for buoys to wash ashore in that area, but this is the first time they’ve ever seen anything like this. A few days after the discovery, the bomb was detonated in a controlled explosion, which you can see in the footage below.
