3) Four Penny Coffins

In the same shelters of the 18th and 19th centuries, one could rent a space to sleep lying down for the night at the cost of four pennies. The beds were coffin sized, made of wood, and built very close together on the ground. At the time the four-penny coffinwas considered a humane way to deal with the growing problem of poverty and homelessness.
