This Iconic Hit From The Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll Will Take You Back To The School Dance!

Ah, the Good Old Days when you could have a hit song without any words.

Ah, the Good Old Days when you could have a hit song without any words; no vocals needed, only the magnificent musicianship of a few talented performers. The Ventures is a band that comes to mind when you think of instrumentals, but another great performance we had almost completely forgotten about is “Sleep Walk,” by Santo & Johnny. After watching the following performance from Dick Clark’s Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show in 1959, we were flooded with memories of being at a school dance. Clark shares a great story at the beginning explaining that the two wrote the song at 2am one morning. Little did they know that what they had written would become one of the iconic songs from the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll! Yes, the Farina brothers were quite special; just listen at the beginning of the video when Dick Clark introduces the two; the woos and whistles say it all!
