PROJECT CIRRUS – A NOAA COLLABORATION WITH GENERAL ELECTRIC — AIMED TO INFLUENCE THE PATH OF ATLANTIC CYCLONES BY DUMPING ALUMINUM AND DRY ICE INTO A HURRICANE’S CORE. THE THEORY WAS TESTED ON 1949’S CAPE SABLE HURRICANE – WHICH, AT THE TIME OF TESTING, WAS DESTINED FOR A MID-ATLANTIC DEATH.
