Fountain pens were created in the early 1800s, but weren’t fully utilized and embraced until 1884 when Lewis Waterman found a way to prevent them from leaking. After that, they were all the rage! It turns out now that antique fountain pens and ink bottles are a really great collector’s item that make for a lovely collection! We went into our archives and realized we don’t have any viewer photo submissions, so we decided to learn a little more about what it’s like collecting fountain pens and stumbled across this helpful video from Fountain Pen Revolution.

While we don’t have a pen collection, we can only imagine how frustrating it must be when the nibs are scratched and no longer write smoothly, so we’re passing this tutorial along for any of you who might gain from it!
