Gone with the Wind

Bette Davis and Errol Flynn were set to play Scarlet and Rhett in Gone with the Wind, but Davis dropped out bc she couldn’t stand Flynn. Davis was instead offered the role of Julie Marsden, a spoiled Southern belle, in Jezebel starring opposite Henry Fonda.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Legend has it that Truman Capote wrote the character of Holly Golightly for and about Marilyn Monroe and demanded that she play the lead role in the film adaptation of the book. Other sources claim that she turned down the role on the advice of those in her circle. Just imagine if Monroe had played the role, though!

While it would have been very interesting to see how these stars would have been in our favorite old movies, we can’t really imagine them any different that the way they are! We’ve grown to love each of these roles exactly as it was played and that’s good enough for us!
