Now this is like something out of Man From U.N.C.L.E. or James Bond! The following clip from the 1961 British Pathé reel “Beat The Bandit,” features a briefcase with some serious anti-theft features. In the demonstration below, one man is seen carrying a briefcases. When another man attempts to steal the briefcase, the anti-theft features kick in, including: three telescopic poles that pop out of the case on all sides (making it impossible to manage), a handle that crushes the thief's hand against the briefcase (so the thief cannot drop it), and an obnoxiously loud alarm that goes off all the while. I wonder why this never caught on?
