1967: “Little Bit O’ Soul,” by The Music Explosion– Now this song brings back memories! Originally recorded in 1964 by The Little Darlings, the song reached all the way up to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967 when The Music Explosion released their rendition. The band never went on to produce anything as popular as this, but give it one listen and you’ll agree that they really hit it out of the park.

1966: “96 Tears,” by Question Mark and the Mysterians– One of the influential garage rock songs of the ’60s, “96 Tears,” brings back a rush of memories every time those organ licks kick in. The song — which reached number 9 on Rolling Stone’s top one-hit-wonders list and number 213 on their 500 greatest songs of all time list — is just as unique as the artists. Lead singer Rudy Martinez went by “?” and wore dark sunglasses to every performance.
